Those who have not moved are getting ready to .move, so they will bp ready for their spring work. Leonard Foland bought 40 acres of land from James Jones on Sand Creek, and moved on the place last week. John McKee was visiting last week at Leon with his sister, Mrs. W. A. Poush. 11. L. I3ramnier spent all of last week at Leon attending court. Ira Young, of South Dakota, has bought his father's old home place of 160 acres at $75 per acre. Grant Young and Joseph Young have bought the rest of the land. Some of it sold for $40 per acre. This land all belonged to the Harri son Young heirs. John Brammer, of Grand River, will move on Ira Young's farm and Mr. Young will not move until next spring. Jordan Crees' house burned down last week. It caught about 5 o'clock in the morning. Mr. Crees was just ready to start to Leon when he dis covered the fire. They saved a few things out of the house, but lost all of their fruit which was in the cel lar. George Foland has moved on the Pat Griffin farm known as the Tom Stanley farm, which lie has rented for this year. Peto McCarl returned home a few days ago from South Dakota, where he was visiting with his brother, Os car McCarl. He says it was so cold up there that it froze cats to death, and he thought he had better come home before it got him. He says it was 40 below zero. Vern Beck has moved on his father's place, the T. T. Beck farm. Curtis Adams is holding a pro tracted meeting at the Dunham school house on. Sand Creek. Rev. Arthur Harper, of Cains ville, is holding meetings at Grand River in the Baptist church. Henry Schmitt, of Osceola, was calling on his old friends and look ing after his farm one day last week. Among the social events for the past week was a pink tea given by Miss Mardell Higgle in honor of her Sunday school teacher and members of the class. A most delightful time was had by all. Jas. Dick Jones, wife and son, spent Sunday the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Caldow. Mrs. Samuel Chamberlin enter tained a number of lady friends at a carpet rag sewing last Wednesday. Miss Gladys Black spent Saturday and Sunday at her home south of town. Elmer and Roy Allen, of Kansas, v.-ho have been visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Allen since Christ mas, returned to Kansas City the last of the week. They were accom panied by their sister, Miss Ruby, who will visit relatives there for some time. The Misses Agnes Caldow and Esther Jones spent Saturday the guests of Mrs. Dick .Tones, west of town. Dick Jones, wife and son, and the Misses Agnes and Jessie Caldow spent Sunday at Rev. Scott Jones'. Cull Euritt is sick at this writing. Rev. Scott Jones occupied the pul pit at the Christian church Sunday evening. Miss Hetty Euritt spent Saturday and Sunday at her home west of town. Epworth League subject Sunday evening: "False Security of the Un righteous." Clarence Smith has rented the Bronson property and will occupy the same at once.
