Auss Frances Cobb, of Iowa City, who has been visiting with Aliss Elma orbes for a couple of weeks, depart ed Friday morning for Alarslialltown to visit a few days at the home of a brother before returning home. Air. and Mrs. Claude Beck returned to their home in Des Aloines Saturday after a week's visit in this city at the home of her parents, Air. and Airs. John Cochran. Their con Ralph will remain for a more extended visit. Airs. James Hutchinson and her daughter, .Mrs. C. T. Horner and baby, of Portland, Oregon, who were visiting with relatives and old time frieends at Woodland, went to De catur City Friday to visit a few days. Airs. C. E. Stuber accompanied Air. Stuber to Garden Grove Friday after noon, and visited over night in that town. Air. Stuber since going into the bank at Garden Grove, has been driving back and forth in his auto, but it was a little too muddy Friday morning. H. Evans returned Monday ev ening from Alarslialltown, where he attended the G. A. R. encampment last week, and stopped on the way home at Grimes to visit a daughter and at Des Aloines with his son, John Evans. Mr. "and Airs. John Woodard, of Decatur, were visitors in this city Alonday. Mr. Woodard is laid up. with a* sore foot, having stepped on a big rusty nail last Friday, and has to use a pair of crutches to get around with. Airs. L. J. Cox returned Friday ev ening from Delray, where she had been visiting her daughter, Mrs, Frank Binning and other relatives. Her granddaughter, Miss Aladge Red man, accompanied her to Leon for a few days visit. Airs. D. R. Fisliburn and son, Don ald, of Ottumwa, who had been visit ing with her brother, E. G. Murray,, at Van Wert, passed through this city Alonday on tneir way to St. Joe, Mo., to visit a few days with her sister, Airs. W. R. Kline. Airs. John Rake returned to her home at Ridgeway. AIo., Thursday, having been visiting for a few days at the home of her son, Alva Rake, of northwest of Leon, whose baby had been very sick for several days but is not improving. Airs. A. E. Xorthrup and Mrs. C, P. Bartlett, of Garden Grove, were in Leon Thursday, enroute home from ..Iarshalltown, where they attended the state meeting of the W. R. C., held in connection with the state G. A. R. encampment. Airs. 1. X. Edwards and daughter, .Miss Af.vra, of Date, S. D., who had been visiting at the home of her sis ter, Airs. Alattie Walker, at Van Wert, came Saturday evening to visit a few days at the home of her mother, Mrs. Caroline Robbins in this city. .Miss Himena Hoffman went to Des Aioines last week to visit relatives and attend the wedding of her cousin, Aliss Alarie Parrish to Air. Brown and Steve Crouse returned from Alarslialltown Friday where they attended the state G. A. R. encampment. The old veterans had a line time at Alarslialltown, ev ery possible courtesy being shown them during their stay in that city. Airs. Jennie Spiker, of Beardstown,. Illinois, arrived Saturday for a few days visit at the home of Air. and Airs. Harl Williamson, of south of Leon. Airs. Spiker is the mother of Airs. George Stewart, of Beardstown, who was also a guest at the William son home. Ralph AIcGinnis, who was visiang for a few days at the home of his parents in this city, departed last Wednesday evening for Cannonsburg, Penna., where he joins the Leeton Chautauqua and will spend the sum mer with them, in charge of their properties. G. C. Ramsey, of near Van Wert, came down Thursday evening and visited until the following day in this city. Air. Ramsey recently had a finger taken off by a wood saw, and is soliciting subscriptions for the Kansas City Journal while he is laid off from work. Mrs. E. Al. Dewey and two children, of Des Aloines, who hal been visiting at the home of her parents, Air. and Airs. Thomas Conner in this city, went to Davis City Saturday tor an over Sunday visit with relatives and friends. Her brother, Will Conner, accompanied them to Davis City. Airs. G. W. Clampitt, of northeast of Leon, returned Tuesday from Rochester, Alinn., where she had been for a couple of weeks, assisting in caring for her daughter-in-law, who was operated upon there. Her daughter Beulah, who had peen visit ing with friends at Varina, Iowa, also returned home Tuesday. Patrick Griffin, of Creston, came down last Wednesday evening and visited in this city until Friday when he went to his former home at Grand River for a short visit before return ing home.
