1 1 ad not maae tneir views Known
sufiicieutly that either side
know before tho convention just
how tho vote would stand.
Dr. . B. Dishniau and Frank
Hawn of this city lieaded ono
faction and are known as Stan
ley men while James Tugglo
wub recognized as one of tho
leading Beckham men and bit
terly opp sed them. Tho Dish
man men made their fight upon
he fact that Dr. Dishman was an
applicant for the appointment
for the position of Internal Rev
enue Collector under the Demo
cratic National administration
and said little about his man
Stanley, while the Beckham
men-came out solidly for tho ex
governor and made this their
main issue. This was the way
tho matter stood prior to the
convention and was one of the
reasons why it was uncertain.
At the convention the Beck-
ham men put up Dr. Orit Jones
for thoir candidate for Chairman
and the Dishman crowd put up
W. S. Woodson to oppose him.
Tholrtter was elected and as-sum-'
charge of the meeting.
Both side urr- i ow claiming
the vie ory and seem to be well
contented with the way matters
have shaped themselves. The
Beckham men caim that thy
wore not opposed to Dr. Dish
man as being chosen as Collect
or of Internal Kt-venue but that
thoywere strongly opposed to
Mr. Hawn, who it was at first in
tended by the Dishman men to
oil'er a s Cmnty Onairman.
Theroforo, now that Mr. Wood
son, a Beckham man, is elected
County Chairman, thoy are sat
isfied, while then seems to be
no worry upon tho part of the
Dishman crowd trom tho fact
that they thomsnlves put up and
. elected their own chairman.
From the position of un on
looker it appears that tho scrap
is not nearly over yet and when
tile time comes for a choice for
