THE CROP OUTLOOK. AILSOINr ' "WAsniNOTOH, Mny 11. May return of wheat make tho condition, compared with tho April averages, materially lower in New York, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. The avorages are as follows: For New York, 77 ; Michigan, 83 ; Ohio, 62 ; Illinois, 'CO. A reduction in Missouri from 83 to 80 is reported. Indiana and Now Jersey are tho same as in April. All tho remaining Northern States show an improvement einco tho April report, as well as the Pacific coast and nearly all tho Southern States. Oregon shows an improvement of 17 points, and California 16. Tho avcriigo conditon of winter wheat is 83J against 80 in April. Tho Bpring wheat nTca reports will not bo completo until May 1G. "Without regard to spring wheat tho present proepect for wintor wheat area represents a loss of about 75,000,000 bushels. St. Tapl, May 11. Managor Hubbard, of tho Millers' Association, says of the seeding in Minnesota and Dakota is done, and the crop is two weoks in advance of last year. Thcro is an increase in tho wheat acreage by about 2 per cent., mostly in Dakota. Milwaukee, Wis., May 11. S. W. of tho Milwaukco Chamber of Commerco, yesterday obtained tho following information relative to tho condition of tho wheat crop. II. II. Young, Secretary of tho Minnesota Stato Board of Agriculture, says: "Tho acrengo planted and to bo sown in IhtsJStato will not exceed acres. Tho crop is all backward, oven that down earliest, and taking tho area and condition together, wo havo no right to expect moro thnn 80 per cent of a good averago crop. I estimate tho crop of the Stato at about 23,600,000 bushels. Farmers in tho southern part of tho State have largely changed from wheat-growing to dairying and general farming, and in tho northern part planting 1ms been greatly delayed, considerable not being sown yet." Alex. Heron, Secretary of the Indiana Stato Board, under date of May 9, Bays: "I havo but little change to report in the prospect for the wheat crop in Indiana. Tho improvement is not so much as was estimated in the April report, and wo place the figute n shade lower as to condition. In the southwestern part of tho State some good wheat is reported, but as a wholo it is very discouraging. Tho season is at best ten days late." Mr. Talmadgo has made a new estimate on tho crop of 1883, giving the following totals by States: Ohio 2(5,000,000 bushels Michigan 23,000,000. Indiana 30,000,000, Illinois 21,000.000, Wisconsin 10,000,000, 'Minnciota 26,000,000, Iowa 22,000,000, iMissouri 23,000,000, Kansas 26,000.000. Nebraska 17,000,000, California 20,000,000, Oregon 13,000,000, rennsylvania 22,00'),-000, New York 12,000.000, other States and Territories 96,000,000, making a total o 402,000,000 bushels, against 603,000,0i)Q bushels last year's production.
