This is a miserable slur at the Democ racy of the Ninth district, if Marcum is guilty of tho charges made against him. But, the ignoramus who is running the Herald no doubt imagined he was getting off something "cute." Professional Etiquette prevents some doctors from advertising their skill, but we are bound by no such conventional rules and think that if we make a discovery that is of benefit to our fellows, we ought to spread the fact to the whole land. A clover root in Uie soil is tho promise of increased fertility, and no farm ever had to many of them. As a few acres well tilled is best for the cultivator, so a small herd well cared for is best for the stockman. Turnips are excellent for sheep. In England the sheep and the turnips are considered the rent payers. The ruanuie rop is one of the most valuable on the farm, yet how many are prone to allow it to go to waste. J. W. Lawson, Jijjent for W. S. Will iams, has bought the crops of tobacco of B. F. Wallingford at 17 cents; Sara Keal, one barn at 14 cents, and one at 15 and 8 cents ; Ira McCann's, at 15 cents, winter on'er. Flemingsburg Times-Democrat. Overby & Wells, tobacco manufacturs of Lexington, have bought about 700,000 pounds of new tobacco in Bracken, Rob ertson and other counties. Of this 200, 000 pounds were bought by John D.
