Prescott, Ariz., Juno 23. Sheriff
Ruffner who has been on tho trail of
Frank Stewart over sinee June 6th
when he shot Dr. McXully, hud an en
counter with hlni yesterday about 25
mllei from Prescott. Ruffner flrod six
show from a Winchester rifle; Stewart
fired four from a Marlln. The sheriff's
hots went wild while one of Stewart's
bullets whizzed through Ruffncr's hat.
Ruffner summoned an additional posse
and is still on the trail, but it is evi
dent Stewart Intends to make a bitter
resistance. He has been setting food
by looting unoccupied cabins. Dr. Mc
Nally is recovering.

bride Is a most estimable young lady
qulte well known in Phoenix and hav
ing a Jarge circle of friends. Tho
