REPUBLICAN PLATFORM DESER
VING OF SUPPORT
We unqualifiedly approve and
assert the propositions and princi
ple of the republican party, en
unciated in its masterly, progres
sive and patriotic platform adopted
at the National convention held at
Chicago, lune 22, 1012 and avow
our abiding faith therein and fealty
thereto.
We endorse the wise, conser
vative yet liberal administration
of President Taft, its true Ameri
cansism, its safeguarding of the
correct principles of free govern
ment, and its close adherence to
the principles of rebublicansism.
We endorse the candidacy of Fred
S. Breen, Walter Talbot and
Hoval A. Smith for thepresidental
electors and candidate for re
presentative in congress, Thos.
E. Campbell.
We heartily recommend the
adoption of constitutional amend
ment numbers 105 and 106, the
same being a forward step toward
the ultimate enactment through
proper legislation of a more in
telligent and equal taxing, system.
We agree with the American
Bar association, with the republi
can nominee, President Win. H.
Taft, the democratic nominees,
Woodrow Wilson and Thos. Mar
shall, and every conservative state
man in the nation, that the recall
as applied to the judiciary is ut
terly vicious and we recommend
the electorate in Arizona to vote
against the amendment writing
this fallacy into the Arizona con
stitution. We disapprove thcextravagant
policy being pursued by the demo
cratic administration in the state
and deprecate the creation of
numerous and unnecessary offices
for the purpose of intrenching the
political, machine of the admini
stration at the expense of the tax
payer.
Believing that the elective fran
chise should be granted regardless
of sex, the republican party of
Arizona endorses the doctrine of
equal rights, and recommends the
adoption of the proposed amend
ment of the constitution of Arizona,
conferring exercise of the elective
franchise upon the women of the
new state.
We deplore and condemn the
policy of the democratic admini
stration of Arizona, in releasing
after short periods of incarceration
convicts who have been sentenced
for long terms by courts and juries
who have examined the evidence
upon which convictions were had.
The action of the democratic ad
ministration weakens the weight
of the law, and the influence of
such released convicts upon the
criminally inclined is pernicious in
the extreme.
We pledge our nominee for con
gress to work and vote, for exten
sion of time on payment by far
mers under reclamation projects,
as pledged in the national rapubli
can platform adopted at Chicago,
and to support an appropriation
for control of the Colorado river
by construction of an adequate
levee system, as recommended by
President Taft.
We condemn the traditional pol
icy of the democratic party for a
''tariff for revenue only," which
means always in the end "free
trade," now being prominently
featured by the democratic candi
dates for president and vice-presi-dent;
and we pledge anew the re
publican party to the doctrine of
protection to American industry,
of which protection the varied in
dustries of Arizona her wool,
cattle, citrus fruit, and agricultural
and mineral products stand in
need.
Adopted at Phoenix, Arizona,
October 1, 1912.
NO PATCHES ON HIS PANTS
Oh, yes; I've heard aboutthetrusts,
Of how I'm being'"done."
Of how the wicked Tariff, too,
Is "robbing." ev'ryone;
But I am working ev'ry day,
And maybe you, perchance,
Have noticed that I haven't got
A patch upon my pants?
They tell me that I am a "slave"
Of "plutocratic" rule,
That I should vote for Wilson and
The party of the mule;
That he will rip the Tariff up,
And on the pieces dance;
But, please observe, I do not wear
A patch upon my pants.
Once I was led away, I think
It was in nin'ty-two,
When Cleveland ran for president,
I shouted for him, too;
Thot Ihere'd be work for ev'ryone
And wages would advance;
He was elected, and I wore
Big patches on my pants.
I lost my job and couldn't get
Another thing to do,
I walked the streetsandev'ry where
Souphouses met my view;
There were thousands justlikeme,
All fighting for a chance
To earn their bread, and ev'ry man
Wore patches on his pants.
I will not vote for Wilson; no,
With him I don't agree;
As for his party, well kind sir;
Once was enough for me;
I've steady work, I havegood pay,
And you may note, perchance,
I'm wearing creases now, instead
Of patches on my pants.
American Economist.
And now he that helped mainly
to mix the recall medicine may
have 'to take the first dose. Down
at Ray in Governor Hunt's own
county a recall petition is being
signed up for his recall. Not
desiring to add any to the demo
cratic miseries now prevading the
party at the coming November
election, the petition will not be
filed until after that date. One of
the special "benefits" of the re
call law which our democratic
brethern in the legislature refused
to change, is opportunity that
petitioners have of charging the
governor with everything from
murder to Mayhem No oath is
required, merely charges of any
and and every kind is all that are
necessary. It is up to the one
recalled to prove he is innocent,
besides testing the popularity of
the other fellow put up against
him. It is just retribution to try
it first on one of those who made
such a law.
Hon. Tom E. Campbell, the
republican candidate for congress
is a young man who unaided has
has made his way in the world
and is a young man in whom the
people of Vavayai count have
great confidence. He is an honest,
earnest worker in the interest of
the people and as assessor of that
country, made a reputation
equal to none in the state. He
is well known in Northern Arizona
and will undoubtedly poll a large
vote in this section.
The republican platform
is a clean cut, clear, brief
statement of the position of the
republican party on the things
most important to the people of
Arizona. There is no "deounc-
ing" and "pointing with pride"
and other platitudes to becloud
the issues. It is built on the plan
of less, law, better government
and 'Arizona's best good.
The proposed commutation of
the sentences of four murders con
demned to hang, by governor
Hunt, has created wide dessention
among the people in Yavapai
county, who claim it would be a
travisty on justice and would bring'
about a reign of lynch law.
Regardless of politics, on the
square, do you believe Boston or
New York will win the National
series?
Aviators seem to be dropping
off rapidly these days. 'Nearly
every day there is a report of one
being killed.
All three parties in Arizona have
planks in their state platforms
favoring woman's suffrage, con
sequently, ladies what'll you have?
Just as an evidence of their
complete poverty the Bull Mooers
at Phoenix have purchased the
Phoenix Republican to use in their
campaign.
The Tucson Citizen issued a
splendid boost edition last week
containing the prominent features
of the new state, along with many
select articles on advantages of
the different counties.
"Never saw your old pitcher,
anyhow it was cracked when I
took it and I brought it back
whole," seems to be as lucid a
statement as those made by Teddy
on the witness stand before he
senatorial committee investigating
his campaign contributions.
In New York the high society
thieves seem to be cleaning up
each other one by one. Witnesses
are becoming scarcer every day
in the Rosenthal murder case.
Selig the king of the gun men
gang, was crowded out the other
day by another gun man so he
could not witness. He was shot
openly in a street car.
The democrats succeeded in
selecting all their presidential
electors in a bunch from one
locality in the state. Hampton
is a resident of Greenlee county,
formerly a part of Graham county
Webb and Jones are both of
Graham county. The democrats
of the southern part of the state
do not believe in handing the
north any honors.

J. C. Ray, Winfield, Ala., says:
"My father, T. J. Ray suffered
with kidney and bladder trouble
so bad he had to use a catcher.
Various kidney remedies were tried
without result, and finally we gave
him Foley Kidney Pills. In three
days he could pass some water
and on the fifth, no longer needed

Foley Kidney Pills until entirely
