Shipping Transactions and

No arrivals were reported yester
day hut the steamship Cluden whica
1ms been reported at Tampa is on
the way to Pensacola and was expect
ed to have arrived by nightfall At I
dark the steamer had not heen sight
ed The Cluden upon arrival will be
bfrthed at the east side of Muscogee
wharf when cargo will be started
and where a bunker supply will be
taken on The steamer left Cardiff
Oct 21 for Para and thence sailed
for he United States touching at
Tampa for orders Cargo for the
United Kingdom will be loaded at
Pensacola
Two Steamers Leave
Two big vessels steamed out of the
harbor yesterday both of them bound
for New Orleans The big Atlantian
which loaded part cargo at Muscogee
wharf and part in the stream steam
ed out of port about darlt whilO the

oclock for the Crescent City This I
steamer may later return and take
cargo for Manchester

The British steamship Parkhaven
which has loaded a very high deck
cargo In addition to many thousand
superficial feet of timber and lumber
in the hatches is ready for sea and
will probably move into the stream

Roy Staunton a visitor from Mc
David Fla and a young man well
known in the city was placed in the
county jail at 330 oclock yester
day afternoon for having it is alleged
unloaded some worthless checks up
on at least three business men in 1
this place The checks were made
out on the paper of tho Bank of I
Flomaton and whon offered by flip
young man who was in tho city for 1
several days they wore accepted
Wnen deposited in the local banks
and by them sent on to the hank on
which they were drawn they were
al returned with the N G or No
Funds mark on them Then simul
taneously the matter was reported
to the sheriffs office by the allege
victims Deputy Nichols who receiv
ed the message from las Durham one
of the men who accepted one of the
clrerks was the first to communicate
with the sheriffs office As soon ns
h1 mentioned the fact that Staunton
had passed the check the deput I
named told Mr Durham that he would
I
have the man before Durham could
swear to the affidavit Deputy Nich I
ols went out and found Staunton at
the corner of Palafox and Romana
streets placing him under arrest at
one At the county jail two half
filled bottles of whiskey were taken
from him besides two knives a well I
emptied blank check book and a num
ber of other articles The charge
I placrd against him on the blotter was
that of forgery but this will be
I changed it was stated when the
county solicitor makes an investiaa
I tion which will be done early in tho
week The case was made against
ipJannton in the county judges court

have been duped by Staunton are
