. I AM DISMISSED.
"Jsupposeahewasrlght in rejecting my prayers,
But why, tell me wbv, did she kick Die down
The winjr of my spirit ia broken,
My doy-star of nope ties declined;
For a mouth not ft word have I spoken
That'a either polite or refined.
JIv mind's like the skv in bad weather.
When the mist-clouds around usarecurledj
Ann, viewing myself altogether,
I'm the veriest wretch in tho world
My dress to la mucMy neglected.
My hat I pull down on my brow,
And I look like ft fellow suspected
Of wishing; to kicktip ft row.
I wander about like ft vagrant;
Well, my pnolinx are not very iweotj
My conduct s improper aud flagrant,
For I quarrel with all whom I meet.
One sya, "He's ft victim to Cupid;"
Another, "His conduct'a too bad;"
A third, "He's awfully stupid;"
A fourth, "He's perfectly mad."
And then I rn wnU hed like a bandit,
All my friends are with me at strife;
By Heavens! no longer I'll stand it,
But quick put bl end to my life.
I've thought oftlie menns, yet I shndder
At dupg or, at ratsbane or rope
At drawing with Inncct my blood, or
At raior without any soap.
Suppose I should fall in ft duel,
And thus leave the world with telat;
But to die with ft bullet is cruel
Besides, 'twould be breaking the law.
Yet oneway remains to the river
I'll fly from the goadings of caret
Butdrown?oh, tho thought makes me shiver)
A terrible death, I declare.
Ah, nol I'll wait and see Mollie
Try to prry her silent disdain
Beseech her once more make me jolly,
But never dismiss me again.
A Strange Wedding Tour from
Altar to the State Prison.
A wedding party of a very unusual
nature wits assembled yesterday morn
ing in tho office of tho clerk of tho
municipal ' court, adjoining tho court
room. A marringo under correspond
ing circumstances lias never taken
place in this city, or in tho Stato, that
we kuow of.
Tho facts of tho Oak Creek burglary,
commitcd a few days sinco, have been
spoken of on several occasions. It has
boon made public that two persons
dressed in male apparel were arrested
a day or two subsequent to the com
mission of the crime. Ono ' of theso
parties afterward proved to bo a young
girl, whoso name is Jcnuio Hamilton ;
tho other is a young man, whose name
is given by himself as John Craig. A
short timo after their arrout, both of
them acknowledged thoir nuiltofthe
crime with which they wero charged,
ana yesterday they woro arraigned
upoh tho indictment, and sentenced to
eight months confinement in tho State
frison. Tho sentence was made thus
ight on account of tho belief on the
part of the court that this was their
tifet crime, and that it was the result
of tho peculiarity of tho circumstances
nnder which they founds themselves
placed, rather than a stato of lawless
ness. There is a tingoof tho romantio run
ning through the history of tho two
criminals that would bo of great value
to tho writer of yellow covered litera
ture, were not the circumstances, un
happily for such a purposo, truo. The
girl, who is scarcely more than nine
teen, and who appeared vory modest
and pretty arraigned before the court
yestorday morning, in garments suited
to her osrn box, is tho daughter of very
respeclablo parents, and bad a good
home, but somo time since she became
attached to her fellow defendant, and
left everything parents, homo, good
name and all, to follow him. Since
then they have become very reduced
in circumstances, and have been com
pelled to seek any shelter and wear
any sort of clothes. And finally, in an
endeavor to obtain relief, they woro
led to tho commissi in of crimo. Through
all this tho girl has followed the for
tunes of hor companion rather than re
turn to her home.
After the sentenco was pronounced
the Chief of Tolice, to whom all theso
details were familiar, BUPtrcBted to them
that they had better bo married before
their departo.ro for uupun. Appa
rently this met thoir views exaetlv.
and, in a few minutes. Justice Rottintror
had performed the ceremony, with of
ficers of the court and members of the
police ; as witnesses and uneetntors.
Whether tho 'Squiro received tho lecal
fees or not we are unablo to Btate, but
consider it doubtful.
After tho conclusion of tho ceremony
they were given somo very sound ad
vice by thopolice,who manifested much
interest in them ; and they will most
probably act upon it, and, upon thoir
release, commence life with now views
and purposes. .r
