There was rather a singular case
happened in our neighboring county
of Terry a weeii or two inco. Somo
twelve years ngo an old lady, living
we believe, in Morgan Co, parted
froru her husband, and, apparently
in almost destitute circumstance,
with the exception of two or throo
large chttts, the contents ot which
wero a mystery, slopped at the
house of a clever-bcartud farmer,
an old acqua intnnco of hcra, whero

the exception of a few short inter

she bad a cmr.lt amount oi money
in bank notes, which she loaned to
the genilcmnn with whom sho was
stopping. Cld, feeble and apparen

for ber, and sho bad tbe entire free

atiothar whose duty it was to rare
for her; so application was made to
thcprocr officers and she was re
moved to the lnfirmury. On tho
wuy thither sho placed a large and
heavy package in the bands of the
person having her in charge, with
tho request that it ho given to ber

afterward opened and found to con

Her son, upon hearing that his
