camp equipage. Sherman on Sun
day was 27 miles south of Atlanta, in
pursuit of the enemy.
There are borious troubles brewing
in Hentucky between the civil and
military authorities. General Ew-
ing, commanding Western Kentucky,
issued an order on the 29th of August.
requiring the Judge of the Quarterly
Court in each county to call together

direct them to levy a tax, upon the
