Thomas Barton, a brakeman on the Ohio Southern railroad, who boards on west Xorth street this city, was seriously in jured last (Ihursday) night at South Charleston. A cut of cars was being backed from the "Y" to the main track, and Barton was standing between and almost at the Intersection of the two tracks. He stepped forward still nearer to the intersection of the tracks to uncouple two cars on the main track when the cut of cars on the "Y" was backed down, pinning him between the cars on the two tracks. He was rolled between the cars, and badly crushed, but succeeded in tearing himself from the crushing grip of the cars and dropping to thegiuuid.where he was safe from further Injury. lie was picked up and Irought to this city, arriving about 1 o'clock this morning.
