ill. J. F. in Ihe Farmer and Fruit (irower.)
I sometimes think the people of the
south part of the statv, and indeed the
whole state over, little comprehend how
much thev owe to Halliday Druthers, the
Cairo millers and shippers, the bt. John
and PuQuoia coal miners, and salt Ixiiltrs,
ahd the wheat farmers of Perry county.
To fully understand our indebtedness to
them and their many successful enterprises,
let us imagine the results which would
follow their death and the closing up of all
their works, and the stoppngo of all their
business. Such an event would amount to
something like a public calamity, for it
would tell adversely on the fort
unes of every . working man
of Southern Illinois. And to make the
matter plainer and bring it closer home to
our conceptions, let us compare the conse
quences following their loss, with the loss
of four or five times their number of the
bawling politicians of the state, who are
tramping alsuit, begging votes and cold
victuals of their friends. In the one case,
the loss would be of men who are develop
iiiff the latent wealth of the country and
adding to its riches, and in the other the
loss would be of fellows who are in truth a
public burden, adding to our taxes and po
litical entantrleiuents, All honor then to
Halliday Druthers, and every other man
and firm eniraged in any and all industrial
and mercantile pursuits, whether fruit
growing, wheat raising, mining, milling, or
others, an. 1 especial honor to those, who
with means at control, use them and their
best energies to develop the natural wealth
of the country where their lands and livings

Prattville, Ala., July 20, 188. Botanic
Medicine Co., Dulfalo, N, Y.: Gentlemen
About three months ago I commenced
using your "Anti-Fat-" at which time my
weight was 219 pounds. JJy following
your directions carefully, I have succeeded
in reducing my weight to 158 pounds. This
is all very satisfactory und pleasant ; but
just previous to my commencing the use of
your medicine, I had purchased two suits
of fine clothes at a high price, and find, to
my dismay, that they are entirely useless to
me now. When I put one of my coats on,
my friends tell me it looks like a coffee
sack on a bean jsile, and when I put the
pants on well, description fails. My ob
ject in writing is to ascertain whether you
have not. in connection with your medicine
business, an establishment where your pa
trons, similarly situated, could exchange
these useless garments for others that would
fit. I think you ought to hav something
of the kind, us it would be an inducement
for many to use the Anti-Fat, who now ob
ject to using it, in consequence of the loss
they would sustain in throwing aside valun
ble garments. Just turn this matter over
in your mind . A '"Clothing Exchange" is
what you want in connection with your
Anti-rat business. lours truly,
. Stun of the Buffalo Head.

Mb. Eiiitou: Having read In vour paper the r
Dons of the remarkable cures of catarrh. 1 am In
duced to tell wliut i know about catarrh, and 1 fan
cy Ihe "snuff" and "Inhaling tube" maker mora
dollar grubber would be glad If they rould embla
zon a similar cure In the papers. For twenty year
1 have suffered with catarrh. The nasal passage
becamo completely closed. Snutr, dust, ashes, in
haling lubes and sticks would not work, though at
intervals I would snull' up Ibe so-called catarrh anuS
until I became a valuable tester for such medicine.
I gradually grew warse, and no one can know how
much I suffered or what a miserable being waa. My
bead ached over my eyes ao that I was eonnned In
my bed for many successive days, sutl'ering the most
luteuse pain, which at one time lasted for liH hour.
Ail auuse of taste aud smell gone, sight and hearing
froiie, nervous system shuttered and rnnstitiitlo
irnken, and I waa banking and spitting sevea
eighths of tho time. 1 prnved for death lo relleva
me of my sulTerings. A favorable notice In your
paper of Dr. Sage's Catarrh Remedy induced me t
purchase a package an.l use it with Dr. Sage 'a nasal
(louche, which applies thu remedy by hydrostatic
pressure, lh only way compatible with common
sense. Well, Mr. h.lllor, It did not cure uic In throe
fourths of a second, nor In one hour or month, bnC
in less than eight minutes I was relieved and in
three months cured and havu remained so for over
Hi months. While using Ihe Catarrh Remedy I tiaed
Dr. Pierce's tJolden Me.lie.iil Discovery to purify my
blood and strengthen my stomach. I also kept xy
liver active ami bowela regular by the nso of hi
Pleasant Purgative Pellets. If my experience will
Induce other sufferers to seek the same means of re
lief, this letter will have answered lis purpose.
Yours truly, S. D. KEN NICK.
