Sunday. A rush of business kept her sev
eial hours longer than usual.
The Garrett passed down from Evans-
ille Saturday. She had three barges of
bulk grain for New Orleans.
The Willie Austin passed up from Mem
phis for Cincinnati on Sunday. She lias
2,000 bales of cotton for the latter port
The Nashville arrived from New Madrid
on Sunday. She is to go into the Cairo,
Cape Girardeau and New Madrid trade.
The Future City started up the Mississip
pi yesterday morning to meet the Grand
Lake, with which boat she will cjfhanyo
tows and return to await the coming of the

The Giand Lake goes back to St. Louis.
The John A. Pcudder tailed to get away
on Saturday. She was here until after dark

The weather has been much colder for
a tew days past treezing solid at nignt

Chicot County Circuit Court, Arkansas,
has indicted one James C. Carlton for ob
taining religion under false pretenses. The
bill of indictment says Carlton professed a

Baptist church, being credulous, admitted
him to the fold. About last November he
began to show "a reprobacy of mind ami
contempt of his obligations to the church,
contrary to the statute in such case made
and provided against the peace and uignitv
of the Baptist church."
