The Joe Kinney and E. 0. Stanard left
for St. Louis during the morning.
The 15. S. Rhea got away for Nashville
luring the morning with a fair cargo.
The Fannie Tatum left Pittsburg on
Monday with all the freight she could carry
for St. Imis.
The Clinton had a fair cargo, and lay
here the greater part of the day making
additions, departing for St. Louis last
The Alex Kendall, due from New Or
leans fur St. Louis, had nut arrived at
lark. The Kendall has been out Irom
New Orleans twentv-cight davs.
The Vint Shinkle has a good cargo for
Cincinnati. She was in port but a little
while, her officers, seemingly being in a
hurrv to reach their destination.
The C. K. Peck, for St. Louis, James W.
Gaff, for Memphis, and the beautiful Guid
ing Star, for New Orleans, leave Cincinnati
this evening. The Gaff and Guiding Star
bring out Mardi Gras excursion parties.
The great Charles Morgan, Captain Alf.
Stein, is due from Cincinnati for New Or
leans. The Morgan is crowded with pleasure
seekers, who go to New Orleans to w itness
the Mardi Gras festivities.
The Thomas W. Means and tow arrived
.luring the morning. She has for this port
1000 barrels of salt. For Memphis 10,000
barrels salt, and for St. Louis 5000 barrels
salt, 100 empty lard tierces find 15,000
kegs of nails.
The steamer L. C. McCormock, while
making the trip from Marietta to Zancsville
on the Muskimrum river last Saturdav
morning, exploded her boilers killing her
lircman, Mike llavermeyer, and badly
scalding six other persons.
The Ste Genevieve nnd Grand Tower, due
last evening, from St. Louis, had not put in
an appearance at dark. The Grand Tower
goes to Yicksburg, Captain George Lenox
is her able commander. The Genevieve
returns to St. Louis. She is commanded by
that efficient and clever gentlemen, Captain
Haymaker in a letter to the Cincin
nati Commercial, from New Orleans, says:
The wharf or leveo present a very anima
ted appearance now, steamers from almost
all parts of this world nnd the old world
receiving nnd discharging freight and pas
sengers. It is not an uncommon, occur
rence to sou from 250 to 300 steamers nud
vessels at New Orleans, either receiving or
discharging or waiting for a trip. In a
short time, two or three months, however,
tho inhabitant of this region will begin to
leave ior tne cooler Western or Northern
climate, nnd if ovjr Mississippi nnd Ohio
river steamers offer to them equal induce
ment to secure their patronage as other
