The weather is warm and jjcaaant, a
liplit hliowt-r of rain fell during the after
noon but the day closed clear and bright.
There is a buoyancy in all staple articles
in the general market, and n scarcity of sup
plica to meet the demand.
Tobacco is begiming to more and sales
to day at the Farmers Tobacco Warehouse
were 17 hhds. lugs $2 00 to $2 CO and fire
hhds. leaf 3 00 to (4 50.
FLOUK Stocks of all kinds exhausted
and receipts at present the lightest for sev
eral weeks. Advices from other points
quote higher und advancing markets, with
but light offerings. The quotations are
from 15 to 20 cents higher than our last.

The new Pittsburg and St. Louis
packet Jlmitana, arrived from the Ohio dur
ing the morning with a good trip of freight
und people. There was but little business
for her, und she did not stay long.
The great Ed. Richardson arrived from
Xew Orleana at noon, and went to the Illi
nois Central wharf-lioat, where she begun
loading. She will get a good starter for a
cargo here. She leaves for her return trip
to the south this evening.
The new steamer W. P. Halliday, having
been delayed above, will not arrive until to
day. There will be a party of a d(i7.en of
prominent business men, including Captain
Hailliday whose name the steamer bears,
go up the Ohio on the iron yacht Ariadne
to meet her. She will be in port until to.
morrow, there being a big lot of freight
awaiting her here. Captain Gould com
mands this elegant new steamer.
