RIVEK WEATHER BCCI.NESS.
There was a decline of about 2 indies
in trie ri'ers yesterday, the gauge lust even
makin'' 13 feet.
Businr ss continues very dull. There is
very lit'le freight moving.
The vcather was clear and pleasant, be
ing niu;h cooler than ou Tuesday.
The ?u:n 1 iherts and barges arrived
from tie Ohio at C p. m.
The Cons Millar will pass up from Mem
phis for Cincinnati to-day.
The Gold Dust, from Yicksburg for St.
Ljui pii-sed up late Tuesday night.
The Kate Picker-sun is overdue from the
6-iUth. .She is on her wav to St. J.ouis,
where she will receive a new hull
The Sherlock, for Cincinnati from New
Orleans, parsed up during the early part of
the morning with a fair trip of freight and
The Florence Meyer, from the south, is
overdue. She is en nute to Cincinnati.
where the will lay up during the low water
The Paris Brown, due yesterday from
Cincinnati, failed to put in an appearance.
She will probably be found in port this
morning. She is on her way to New Or
leans. The James W. Gaff, lue from the Ohio
for Memphis yesterday, had not arrived at
daik. It is surmised that she has met with
delay at Caseyviiie or some of the trouVic
some places above.
The City of Helena pased down Tuesday
night. She had only ft light cargo, the
staire of the water between Cairo and St.
Liuh allowing her but a limited amount,
and left after getting a small lot of mis
cellaneous stuff here.
Captain John Crane's good Belle Mem
phis, i due from St. Louis this evening. 0:1
her way to Memphis. She is an Anchor
Line lioat and attends to business entrusted
to her promptly. She offers also the best
accammodations to passengers.
Yp bound boats report Shoo Fly and r
Reeve's bars in bad condition. Fox Island
is also troublesome. ' Bulletin Tow Head
is bad. There are two channels and both
nie lumpy. The best water there now is
is but a little better than eight feet.
To-day's deptirtureof Anchor Line steam
ers for Yicksburg will be Captain Mc
rheter's reliable Colorado. She will,
owinjr to the stage of the river between this
port and St. Loujs, arrive with plenty of
room for freight, and shippers will do well
to give her their patronage.
For New Orleans to-day, is announced
the great Anchor Liner, City of Alton. She
will be in port this evening, and . offers the
best of inducements to shippers. The Al
ton is a fine passenger craft, as well as
great freight carrier. Captain Horace
Bixby, one of the best and most polite of
gentlemen is her commanding officer. Mr.
William Masson is her chief clerk. .

Women who delight in talking and gos

parts of speech by praising Lemon's Dyes,
made by Wells, Richardson & Co., Bur

cannot be too widely known, They work
equally well with the coarsest and most
fragile fabrics. Get them at your drug

from an inactive liver, and am going to the
