The Iu'.ewlld passed down from Evans

making the trip down and back.
The new Cairo and Paducah packet
Champion, Captain Newman, clerks, An
drew J. Rird and William Hunter, arrived
Ironi Cincinnati at 1 p. m. with a good trip
of freight and people. She left for Taiiu
call at 4 o'clock last evening to bring out
an excursion party to-day, leaving this port
again this afternoon for Metropolis, Padu
cah and way points nt 3 o'clock. The
Champion is a fine steamboat, with a spa
cious and beautiful cabin, and 10 large and
commodious staterooms, and carries nbout
300 tons of freight. Her cabin and state
rooms arc newly and very tastefully carpet
ed and furnished and present as good an
appearance as those of any packet on the
Ohio river. She was built fornn excursion
boat, nnd her arrangements arc perfect for
travelers who want to enjoy a pleasant trip.
There is a probability that she will mako
her trips from Cairo to Paducah and return
in daylight, and if she
docs, there is no doubt she will
command a big share of the business
between the two points. Tho Champion is
