WASHIXGTOK LETTER.
Washisgton June 16 1S79.
By r, solution the senate cf will to-day
f.x Friday r.t-xt instead f Tuesday, for ad
journment. All the bills can be completed
before that time, and Mr. Hayes can work
his ir.cor.rttst will upon them. Current
runnr is to the t-ffect tl.at lie will approve
the :.r:..y and leg'.s'.ativp bills and expends
Lis wrath upon the "judicial expenses" bill.
Senators Blaise and Conk'.ing are doing
their utmost to make him to veto the army

says, threatens to call or.e it cor.gre's docs
not pMvide fur. ls for the unconstitutional
officials. There is an old saving about
inability to lead 5 horse to water, and in
ability to make him drink, which, in that
case, Mr. Hayes will feci the fall force of.
Notwithstanding a good deal of cppoi
tion from various charters, it is certain that
the vote tn cor.irm the nomination of Sec.
of war McCrary to a judgeship will be
nearly unanimous. It is unpleasant cf
course. to be aide to put Pim.Krats in all
those life-lor.g poitloi.s. but next best to
a Democrat is an horn st ar.d intelligent
member of another party, ar.d that Mr.
McCrary is. The infamous cause of k-s-ate
radi.als in lvi. :ylt and 1"37, doe?
not furnish a disirab'.e precedent tor action
in this. case.
The politicians insist that in w!
it Sena
tors Conk'.ing and Blaine are di
ir.s in op-
position to the army bill, and Garr'.eld in
it lave 1, the next presidential candidacy
is mixed up. The prominence given to Sic.
Sherman of late, and the supposed L.vcr
with which Mr. Hayes is supptted to re
gard him are i.icr.tior.cd. But I
have vet to mett ar.v one who believes
that H ives has consistency or coherency
enough in his late and present course to be
of prolong. d service to any or.e. The less
that Secretary Sherman gets of such help
the better for him.
(ien'l Ewing in a c.u'.vei'satie 11 on Satur
day said he had no doubt of his election
as Governor of Ohio. He expresses pleas
ure at having Gea'l Rice on the ticket, and
believes the faithfulness and liberality with
which that crippled veteran performed his
duties as chairman of the house committee
on pensions will influence the votes of
many cx-soldiers.
The death hate ok our country ss get'
ting tearfully alarming, the average' of life
being lcssenc.l every year, without any rea
sonable cause, the death resulting generally
from the most msignigcant origin. At this
season of the year especially, a cold is such
n common thing that in the hurry of every
day life wc are apt to overlook the dangers
attending it and often tlnd too late, that a
Fever and Lunj trouble has already set in.
Thousands loose their lives in this way

For nil disease? of the throat and iurgs.
Hosehee's German Syrup has proven itseli
to be the greate st discovery of its kind in
medicine. Every druggist in the country
will tell you of its wonderful effect. Over

single failure known.
