Tho dissatisfaction which prevails
throughout the community with regard to
onerous conditions contained in life assur
ance contracts and tho judicial decisions
based thereon, together with the public in
dorsement of tho liberal usages of this So
ciety, as shown by its largely increased
business, has led the management seriously
to consider whether the contract could not
15c simplified and certain conditions erpsed
therefrom which have been tho subject of
much criticism and misconception.
After a careful examination of the ex
perience of somo of tho best companies in
Great Britain, who havo shown a greater
liberality than has been customary in this
country, this society feels justified in adopt
ing a form of contract in which tho follow.
ing important concessions aro mado to pol
icy holders ttuoughout tho United States:
1. Policies will bo mado incontestable
after thrco years from their date.
2. Each ordinary policy will provido for
a deflnato surrender-valuo in paid-up assur
ance, in caso tho policy is forfeited after
thrco years from its date.
3. Each Tontino policy will contain a
definite surrcndor-valuo in cash, in case of
