The Market.
Monday Evenino, August 4, 189.
Tho weather, yesterday and to-day, .has
been scorching hot. The sun shone with a
steady glare from a clear sky, and tho air
was hot and dry until late this afternoon
when heavy clouds came up from the north,
and the day closed dark and heavy with
promise of rain.
FLOUR The demand for choice and
medium grades covers all arrivals: low
grades are plenty and neglected.
HAY The market is bare of all kinds,
The demand is only for the light local
trade.
CORN Very little moving. Prices arc
steady and unchanged,
OATS Receipts arc liberal and the new
crop is generally of good quality. Prices
unchanged.
BUTTER Choice is a little scarce and
in 1,'tir demand.
EGGS Firm and steady with a demand
for all that come in.
CHICKENS- Choice young are in good
demand. Receipts light.
TOBBACCO The extreme hot weather
has had a bad effect on the growing crop
and has advanced prices. Receipts con
tinue to increase and the month of August
bids fair to be the liveliest of the season.
