FORTY-FIVE NEW CASES l.V TUK CITY AND
IMMEDIATE VICINITY.
Memphis, August 11. The weather was
clear ami cool. Quiet prevailed throughout
the day, aud we are getting down to the
old monotonous scenes of lust year. There
were reported to the board of health thirty
four cases in the city and eleven outside;
also six deaths and one since 0 o'clock, mak
ing a total of 7.
Six persons belonging to the crew
of the Ouachita Belle were before Dr.
Porter's court this torenoon. Five were
sentenced to the camps and the other was
put under $-2.;0 bond. The Odd Fellows'
relief committee have ten sick persons un
der their care, all doing well as far as de
veloped. Two are new enses.
Thirty-four cases in all twenty white
and fourteen colored were reported to the
board of health to-day. Two additional
deaths have occurred, both colored. At a

point eat'j confer with the vanou iimnsrefi

churches, discouraging any largo public
assemblies, which are calculated to spread
yellow fever in our midst, Dr. S. II. Col
lins, who had been sent to Forest Hill to
investigate cases of fever at that point, re
turned to-day and reports one person, a re
fugee from Memphis, down with fever.
Every precaution has been made against its
spreading by isolating the dwelling. Maj.
Guy's condition to-night is extremely criti
cal. He had an attack of black vomit this
afternoon. Ed. Moon is better. Miller
Owen shows no improvement. A. M. Rey
nolds, letter-enrrier, and Paul Ross, check
boy in the W. U. telegraph office, were
stricken this afternoon. The thermometer
to-day has ranged from 82 degrees.
