Hitters is the most reliable and widely
I'stei-med inedieine of its class. It u-moves
tin; eauscs of constipation, or of undue re
laxation of the intestines, which are usually
indigestion era misdirection of the Idle.
When it acts as a cathartic, it does not gripe
and violently evacuate, but produces
gradualand natural effects very unlike thox-fadra-tic
purgative; and its power of a--siting
digestion nijllirics those irritating
conditions of the mucous membrane of the
stomach ind intestinal canal which
produce first diarrlnea. and eventually
dysentery. The medicine is. moreover, an
agreeable one, and eminently pure ann
wholesome. Appetite and tratujuil nightly
slumber are both promoted by it.

It allayed all that burning thirst: took away

THE EQUITABLE LIFE ASSURANCE
SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES
MAKES Til E F0 L LO Y 1 X G A N 5 0 X C E
MENT TO THE PUBLIC:
The dissatisfaction which prevails
throughout the community with regard to
onerous conditions contained in life assur
ance contracts umi the judicial decisions
based thereon, together with the public in
dorsement of the liberal usages of this So
ciety, as shown by its largely increased
business has led the management seriously
to consider whether the contract could not
be simplified ami certain conditions eri'sed
therefrom which have been the subject of
much criticism and misconception.
After a careful examination of the ex
perience of some of the best companies in
Great Britain, who have shown a greater
liberality than has been customary in this
country, this society feels justified in adopt
ing a form of contract in which the follow
ing important confessions are made to pol
icy holders throughout the United States:
1. Policies will be made incontestable
after three years from their date.
2. Eaeh ordinary policy will provide for
adetlnate surrender-value in paid-up assur
ance, in case the policy is forfeited after
three years from its date.
;). Each Tontine policy will contain a
definite surrender-value in cash, in case of
withdrawal at the end of the tontine
4. The contract will be concisely ami
clearly expressed, containing only Mich
provisions as are necessary to protect the
5. The above concessions will hereafter
inure to the benefit of all policies already
issued and in force, after three years from
their dates respectively.
