EIGHT NEW CASES REPORTED AT
MEMPHIS YESTERDAY.
Mkmpiu, Oct. 7,-02icial reports show two
new cases, both colored, while the Howard
books contain the following whites: David
Hukc!!, Jr., Matthew Manahan, Sam John
(Cliinaman), Joseph "atkius. Jr., Sarah
Whitsctt, W. H. D. Wendell. Mr. Wendell
is in charge of the commission store of Hill,
Fountain & Co., aud has all along expressed
his doubts about the present epidemic. Ho
is reported with a bad case. Sam John is
the third Chinaman stricken this season,
nnd.it seems, as tlitro were- but one or two
stricken last year, that acclimation don't
agree with the almond-eyed man of des
tiny. The other two cases rcportcel are get
ting well.
President Langstaff with two nurses went
out to Wycth depot, thirty miles east on the
.YLaiil U. railroad, to-dav. where a rssn of
yellow fever has been discovered. Two or
three new cases are reported from Runtyns,
among tlicm the son of Dr. Watkins,
reported in to-day's Howard list.
Notice has boon served on N. W. Sneers
Jr., nnd his counsel to the effect that a mo-
tiem would be made for a dissolution of tho
injunction granted by Special Juelge Gallo
way against the state board of health to
morrow morning before Judge T. D. Eld-
ridge, who will come into tho Citv r-snor..
ially for the purpose of hearing the motion.
.1. JI. Williamson, who it was tlioiirhf
had fever last July and convalesced, is down
again with a severe attack. His physicians
now say his previous illness was not vel-
low fever. lie lately returned from a trip
