The M. V. T. company's steamer Grand

fleet of barges which sho takes to New Or

finished. She" will make a good towboat,
and is almost like a new boat It is ex

the Champion largely, and thus crush her
out of the Paducah trade,
The lcrrylioat Three States continues to
make her trips to the Missouri and Ken

BULLETIN:1 SUNDAY - MORNING, " OCTOBER 19, 1879.
"Rlvar Editor Cairo Bulletin:
Ho had attracted general attention by his
uneasiness and Maj. llalliday, Capt, Phil
lips and Col. Bradley, believing that ho was
.about to jump into the river nnd thus man
age to escape, with tho wings of angels,
from this, the footstool of the Lord, had con
cluded to keep an eye on him. Many and
various were tho speculations of other by
standers concerning him ; but the true cause,
like the north pole or the Sun man's brains,
remained eclipsed and would give no evi
dence of its existence, It was grow
ing lati'in fact the Champion
had just come in sight when,
Jerusalem behold ! he was blowing his nose,
smoothing his hair, straightened his shirt
collar, etc., all at one time while he was
standing on one leg. What was the mat
ter with him "Time will tell;" was the
general verdict. As the Champion came
near the wharf his uneasiness increased
but as sho landed the cause
was at once revealed. There was a girl in
in it u girl, fat, fair and alwut IS. 'They
embraced, and then, would you believe it
Mr. Editor, they well, but for the young
man's ears, I actually believe she would
have swallowed him. As it was he had to
back out again. I saw them for a moment,
but me thinks I see them still.'"
We take it. ami our readers should so
understand it, that the largeness of the
Cairo young man's ears did not constitute
him an ass and that the young lady wii
not the whale that swallowed Jonah she
was a Puducah girl.
Wah in u'ltopE aoain. There is more
biliousness in the polities of the eastern
Hemisphere. We would advise those
blood-thirsty nnd dvpcptic statesmen of
Europe to take Mott"s Liver Pills. Best
