REAPPEARANCE OF THE DISEASE
AT HARRISON S LANDING, MISS.
Mum puis, Tenn., (Jet. 29. Harrison feta
tion, Mississippi, has a-juin come to grief,
as another ease of yellow frver lias broken
out there. Mr. Langstaffof the Howards,
with two phy.-iciaui and a nurse, went
down there yesterday to investigate the
sti.-picious illness oi a Mr. Crew, whose
child died of the same character of
Kicknes-s, last Sunday. Drs. Wise and
Sim both pronounce Crew's case genuine
yellow fever, of which he will die to-night.
Dr. Wise and a nurse are left with him, Mr
LnngstalT aud Dr.Sim returning to tho city,
arriving nt 10:30 to-night and furnishing
your correspondent with the above facts.
Harrison, station is the point where the
Morris family of four persons died two
weeks ago of a suspicious illness, but the
Huarautine authorities of De Soto county of
that state refused to allow the Howards of
Memphis to render any assistance.
MiiMPiirs, Tenn., Oct. 2l. Two cases
were reported to the board of health this
morning. James Hartwell aud Ed Du
bach, both at the city hospital. One death
occurred last night, John A. Glass, two
miles cast of the city. Weather warmer.
A special train left at noon with physician
and nurse for Harrison Station, Miss.,
seventy miles south of here on the Miss.,
and Tenn. railroad.
Dr. W. 11. Winn, inspecting officer of the
national board of health, is down with a
case of fever. He was sent from here to
Forrest City, Ark., when tho fever appeared
at that point, aud relumed to Memphis
three days ago. lie contracted tho diseaso
at Forrest City.
The Howards have relieved all but forty
three ot their nurses. Four hundred ab
sentees returned by rail to-night.
The north polk and Kqu.u'on Arc
not more widely distinct than the standard
tonic, stimulant and alterative, Hosttter's
Stomach Hitters, and the cheap and fiery
local bitters which unscrupulous venders
foist upon tho unwary as medicated prepar
ations with remedical properties. Tho lat
ter are usually composed in the main of half
rectified alcoholic excitants, with some
wretched,drug combined to disguise their
real flavor and are perfectly ruinous to the
coats of the stomach. Hostetters' Hitters,
on the contrary, has for its basis choice
spirits ot. absolute, purity, mid this is
modified and combined with medical ex
tracts of rare excellence and botanical ori
gin, which both invigorate arid regulate the
bowels, stomach and liver. They elVect a
radical change in the disordered physical
economy, which is manifested by a speedy
improvement in tlfe general health,
What it does. Kidney Wort, moves the
bowels to regularity, 'cleanses tho blood,

A MODERN ROMAN CK.
Prom the Sew York Trlbnno. 1
Vi ho says tho day ot romance are ended
needs to read the strange muty of a Scot
tish plowman who has returned to bis na
tive heath after a long exile. , Twenty
years ago, a farmer in Orkney hired a young
man to no larm work. The plowman
touched the fancy of Ids master's daughter,
and the result was that, in a runaway fash
ion, and in opposition to the will of tho
patriarchal furmer, the two became mau
and wife. The old man was furious, and
turned his back determinedly on liis son-in-
law, mo young plowman kissed lu wife,
It-It Her in her lather s arms, and sailed for
Australia, whence lie soon ceased to write.
His wife became a mother, and
remained m such a state of
wretched suspense that her father began to
repent' of .the treatment to which ho
had subjected her husband. Efforts
were then made to trace the whereabouts
ot the husband by means of advertising in
the colonial papers and otherw isc, but alt
to no purpose. He had gone to America
Year passed. The grandson grew up to
maniiooil, and, not liking farm work, bale
adieu to Orkney, took ship last year to
tno LmteU ntatca, and, after some knock
ing about, found employment in a mercan
tile house in Illinois." In tho course of
business he discovered that the gentleman
at the head of the firm was a native
of Scotland, hailing, indeed, from
the same district as himself. Oc
casional meetings led to mere
minute inquiries as to dates, names .of
places, persons and the like, in the old
country, and, after being six months in the
establishment, the youth found however
wonderful it may appear that he was act
ually serving as a clerk with no other than
his own father. The cft'ect of this discov
ery on both may bo left to the imagination
of the reader. Father and son are now in
Scotland. The man who went away a pen
niless plowman, but returned rich, has been
welcomed with much emotion by his ven
erable fathcr-iu-law, who is still hale and
heart', as well as by tho wife whom he left
years ago in her youth and beauty, hut who
is now a middle-aged matron.
My Wife Suffered with prolapsus
uteri, fluor albus, complicated with other
female troubles. Her life was miserable.
Hev. Guy S. Frazcy, of the Methodist
Church, advised me to try Giles' Liniment
Iodide Ammonia, he telling, me of the
wonders it had performed on his wife, who
was a martyr to such troubles, and is now
well. I obtained the Liniment, and mv
wife is cured. Charles 11. Jones, editor
