Springfield, 111., November 13. J.
Robertson, of Armsdale, New Hampshire,
dropped dead in trie Revere house this
morning, while removing his coat. He wa3
traveling for an Eastern manufacturing firm
and has been sick several days. The cause
was strangulation from the breaking of au
ulcer in the throat.
A STATE WITHOUT A CONSTITUTION.
Louisville, Ky., November 3. In a dis
cussion in the Buford case at Frankfort to
day, it was determined to examine the orig
inal engrossed constitution among the
archives of the state. Thorough search was
made in the office ot secretary of state from
garret to cellar, and no constitution could
be found. The point now is, is it true that
we are running our state government with
out a constitution?
Louisville, November 13. A Hosskius
ville special to the Courier-Journal says:
"W. H. Coombs, of this city, was shot- and
killed on Main street at G:00 o'clock this
evening by Jas, P. Ferguson. Coombs se
duced Ferguson's sister under a promise ol
marriage and having refused to comply
with his promise Ferguson approached him
with a shot gun at the hour named and
emptied the contents ot, both barrels into
his body. One load took effect in Coombs'
liaht arm and side and the other in tho
buck of his head. He died instantly. Fer
guson gave himself up aud was lodged in
