Ethau Allen, grandson of John Allen, of
Puritan fame, and rclatifo ot revolutionary
Lthau Allen, died at Newport, Ky., to-day
aged S3. The deceased was prominent in
the Protestant Episcopal church, and well
known as an nttthor and historian.

Oswloo, N. Y., November Is. The tug
Seymour, of Ogdunsltirg, left Cape Vincent
yesterday with four tugs, three dredges and
eight scows in tow for Htill'alo. During the
night a gale on Lake Ontario was encount
ered and three of tho tugs and all of the
dredges and scows were lost. One tug was
picked up to-day and the Seymour arrived
at Sackett's harbor. Of the crew only six
persons were saved twenty-two were lost.
