Chicago Sews. A Chicago man is about to astonish tho world. More than that, be claims to Inrrc revolutioned philosophy, discovering truths which completely overthrow many of tlm commonly accepted theories upon which are based alleged laws of nature. More than that, these new discoveries will, if practicable lu their uuc.rationa. convulse gaa companies with fright, dcmoravW- w.k companies, and disgust nature with her ef forts at growing tret's for fuel. The gentleman's name w Mr. A. D. Woodman, and he resides in the West Division. He appears to be a thoroughly educated man; is a chemist and machinist, and has been for years an experimenter in matters -looking to new sources ot hgbt aud heat. In the course of his investign tious he became satisfied that certain claims of natural philosophers as to tho material basis ot natural laws were all wrong. He. put himself to work in an exactly opposite direction, disregarding certain , accepted tenets ot tcientilic men, picked up rejected ideas, worked out his own theories as t creative powers, ami, after years of experi ment, stuuv and poverty, is prepared to de monstrate, by exhibition, that water can bo- utilized lor ucnt ana light. H13 machine is composed of over thirty pieces. In 'that machine be disintegr'ati a water, and bringing its component, parts together agaiu, produces light, heat or steam, as he chooses. The light contained is a bcjutiltil aud very brilliant flame, aud can be perfectly controlled. Its head is of the most intense character. By the turn of a valve he can transform the light into steam. Tho process by which this is accomplished is a secret. The discoij erer admits that he generates a tremend ous explosive power a power as great :h tlmt claimed tov tue Keeiy motor but L utilizes it at once in the manner mentioned. Mr. Woodman knocks philosophy all tn pieces, denying many of its most important laws. As a result of his discovery he de clares that the electric light is not needed either for brilliancy of illumination or for economy, because his burning water w jll supersede it. As a motor power lie thinks he can make a locomotive boiler of sixteen cubit feet capacity that will draw to New York city a train of cars of any length. If these claims can bi substantiated, then Mr. Woodman will render auy further study ot the electric light by Mr- Edison entirely unnecessary. With the chain ot the great lakes to draw upon for material, Chicago ought, should ill. Woodman's discovery be of use, be the best lighted city in the world. A large generator is now being prepared, in order. to make a thoroughly practical test of the discovery. U.-. ! FOR SALE.
