The Chas. Morgan will get away early
this morning. She filled out here.
The Gold Dust took the pig metal
reshipped by the Rhea last night.
The Mary Houston is the next boat
for New Orleans, from the Ohio river.
The Commonwealth was amply loaded
and took nothing from Cairo. She passed
down at 4 p. m. yesterday.
Capt. Ambrose came down a passenger
on the Hillman yesterday. His headquar
ters are now at Paducah.
The Silver Cloud, belonging to the
Evansville and Tennessee packet company,
sank Saturday in the Tennessee river, and
is reported a total loss.
Monday Evening, June 7th, 1880.
The weather is variable. A heavy thun
der storm, with high winds passed over this
section Saturday night without, however,
doing any damage to property. The atmos
phere has since been cool and generally
clear, but to-day closed cloudy and threat
ening another storm.
Eusiness opens this week about the same
as it closed last. Prices are generally
weaker and in leading articles, stocks are
FLOUR Dull and unchanged. Dealers
do not look for any improvement until after
the new crop is put upon the market.
HAY We note an accumulation of
stocks and lower prices. There is no de
mand at all for common and only a light
inquiry for choice ut prices shaded in favor
CORN The supply of loth white and
mixed is limited but the demand is corres
pondingly light. Prices are unchanged.
OATS Prices are shaded. Stocks are
fair aud the demand is small.
MEAIi There is a firmer feeiing in the
market, and prices are shaded in favor of
BRAN More plenty, and prices are
BUTTER Receipts are large ami the
demand small. Only strictly choice is
wanted at uuy price.
EGGS "Weaker and lower. Stocks are
a little in excess ot the demand.
CHICKENS The demand is lair and
FRUIT We note an arrival from Mo
bile of several boxes ot tomatoes. Small
fruits are plenty and prices vary with th0
amount on the market each day.
POTATOES The new crop is coming
ia quite lively Hnd prices will go lower.
Old peach blows are steady and firm.
TOBACCO Prices obtained at the ware
house arc very satisfactory. The present
weather is very favorable for handling, con
sequently receipts have been unusually
