THE MILLER'S EXHIBITION.
Cincinnati, Juno 10. Commissioners of
the International millers' exhibition to-day
confirmed the award of the committee in
the class of middlings purifiers, which had
been made to tho George T. Smith purifier.
Jackson, Mich.; also awards to Dufour &
Co., New York, bolting cloths, and Ber
nard & Lees, on receiving separator, wheat
brush machine and smut machine. The
te3t of engines, which has been delayed by
the accident of Monday, will be pushed
energetically. The attendance ranges
from 3,000 to 7,000 a day.
THE WUEAT MIDtlE.
Ciiampaion, 111., June 16. Very consid
erable damage is found to hare been done
by the wheat midge to the splendid grow
ing crop of this county. The affected
heads appear as if ripe and are empty. Ex
aminations in diffurent parts of the county
make it probable that one-tenth or one-
eighth of the crop is destroyed. The crop
is the largest ever sown iu this section, and
has bid fair to give the largest yield. The
rust so far has done no damage. The har
vest will been in one week.
Washington, June 16. Hayes' veto of
the Bayard marshals1 bill has caused very
little comment in political circles. Demo
crats as a rule pass it by with the remark :
"As a political maneuver we can stand it if
the Republicans can, and we are perfectly
willing to carry the question before the
people this autumn."
