The Virgie Lee, Capt. Wash Thomp
son, en route from Cincinnati to Memphis
with a good freight and full of people,
lelt the wharf about 3 o'clock yesterday
afternoon, and started to descend the falls
with Capt. Pink Vtrble at the wheel. As
she started down the Indiana chute, just
below the dam, the wind struck her and
swung her around, and 6he struck the rocks
with her head first and swung around, and
now lies sideways across the chute, with
her head on the left hand reef, and her
stern on the right hand reef. She has a
good sized hole in her hull on the starboard
side amidships. She was taking very little
water, if any. Carpenters are at work re
pairing tho hole in her hull. The harbor
bout and barge went to her to lighten her
up, und she will probably get off to-day.
The people were taken ashore by John Tul
ly and others in skiffs and landed on the
'Indiana shore. She wa9 lying straight at
night, and will probably get off without

completion of railroads, so the huge, dras

pulky medicines, are quickly abandoned
with the introduction of Dr. Herce's Fleas

coated, and jittlo larger than mustard seeds,
but composed of highly concentrated vege
