LETTER FROM THEBES.
Notwithstanding the uncertainty of the
weather, there were more people in attend
ance ut the Sunday school mass meeting,
or convention on the fourth inst., than has
ever lieretotore been the pleasure of the
Thebans" to ussist in entertaining. The
meeting was conducted by Mr. M. Easter-
ay, the county Sunday school president,
to whom, as well as Prof. Jerome, from
Carboudale, we feel very thankful for ser
vices rendered in the work. The Prof, is a
host" withia himself, and Mr. Easterdav
is a good smooth talker, and seems to com
mand the attention of all present, in fact
both arc efficient workers, that we would
be glad to have with us on all such occa
sions, ice uear creeic sclioo was
represented by Mr. Scott McRa
rcn. Tho two schools from Sandy
creek were present iu a body. Wo
are pleased to see our friends from tho
''Hulen settlement" take such an iutercst in
Sabbath Schools. Mr. Jesso Miller from
EIco, and several members f tho "Pleasant
Hill" school were attendants. Our schools
turned out "en masse," Wo are most hap
py to notice tho germ ol piety that has
been so long hidden in tho "deep recesses"
of U. A. Marchildon's heart, becoming so
fully developed. He was at tho convention
last Sunday. Tho exorcises were variod,
interesting aud instructive, and wo think
will be a perccptiblo and lasting benefit to
all who had the good fortune to bo there.
