Every day we have threatenings of rain
and promises ot cooler weather but every
day the clouds with their mutterinys pass
around us and the rain falls everywhere
except in Cairo. The signal service gives
notice of an approaching cold wave that
may reach us to-morrow. One thing to be
noticed is, that although this heated term
has been unusually long and severe, sun
strokes and prostration from its effects have
been of rare occurrence in large cities and
we have heard ot none in this section.
FLOUR -The market is full stocked and
extremely dull. Trices are drooping and
transactions generally small. The aggre
gate sales since our last report, in this
market foot up 1,082 barrels.
HAY Receipts have increased ;the stocks
and prices are not so firm.
CORN The demand is small and the
amount on the market light. Prices are
OATS Wo uote a firm market with
light receipts and a 6mall supply.
MEALPlenty and very dull. Prices
aro weak and lower.
BRAN Nothing doing. Prices are
BUTTER Choice butter sells readily at
figures above our quotations, but there is
very little comes in. Common and me
dium grades nro in good supply.
EGGS Scarce and high. Receipts find
ready sale on arrival.
POULTRY Good chickens sell readily
on arrival at outsido figures. Last Satur
day tho market was bare and prices spurted
up to $2.75 and f 3.00, but only for that
PEACHES Scarco and in cood demand
GRAPES Steady demand for all that
POTATOES There are none sola on
consignment. Sales from country wagons
for tho local trade nro at about 35c in bulk,
WATERMELONS The supply is unlim
ited and sales are made by the wagon loud
