The Itllewild had a light trip.
The J. W. Gaff made fine additions for
the Ohio river.
-The Vf. V. Halliday loaded to eight
teet, and got away with ail she wanted.
The Mary Houston will be found at
tle wharf this morning for New Orleans.
Colonel John Dexter is the very first
clerk of the steamer Idlevtild, succeeding
Capt. Ed Thomas.
The Belle Shreveport came out at noon
yesterday. She added liberally here and
departed drawing OJj feet.
The Sam Roberts and barges got away
early yesterday morning for New Orleans.
She filled out one barge here.
Capt. Frank Cedard passed through
here yesterday Jor the Eckert and the
wreck of the City of Vicksburg.
-Capt. Lu Kates of the Will Kyle left
his boat at Memphis, and came through by
rail. The Kyle passed up last night.
The Bradford sunk in Wabash, near
Ohio tow head, about two miles from the
mouth. She was in command of Capt.
Dick Evitts, formerly of the Fisk. She will
probably be a total loss.
The Hillman had a light trip for
Madiid Bend yesterday, but had a big
trip of whistle during her 6tay at the wharf
boat. The last blast given wa3 of about
ten minutes duration, and seemed to result
unpleasantly to those who were endeavor
ing to transact business.
A petition will be circulated the com
ing week for the purpose of procuring funds
to institute a thorough prosecution of all
steamboats blowing whistles at our levee
in violation of the whistle ordinance. This
action has been deemed necessary by reason
of the failure of those in power to enforce
an ordinance which has remained inactive
on the Etatute books the past three years.
As OCR reporter came along Water street
last fcght, shivering with the chill night
air, and drawing his overcoat tightly about
him, he thought, "now i the time for colds
and coughs,'' but if poor mortals only
knew what a certain cure Dr. Bull's Cough
Syrup is, how few could long suffer, and
