The weather to-day has been abomina
ble; a slow but distressingly steady rain set
in early in the morning and continued with
out a moment's intermission all day, and up
to the present writing, putting a dead stop
to all kinds of business on the levee and at
the wharf, and rendering it impossible to
move consignments received on track this
FLOUR The market is buoyant and
holders are in good spirits. Stocks are fair;
the demand is good ; prices are firm, and a
HAY. Receipts arc fair and there seems
to be plenty in store and on track, but it is
impossible to move anything to-day on ac
count of the soit weather. Trices open
firm at the advance noted last week.
CORN. The demand is only moderate
and the movement very light. In other re
spects the market is unchanged.
OATS. Steady aud firm, with a good
MEAL. Steady and unchanged.
BRAN. The demand is active, stocks
light, and prices have an upward tendency.
BUTTER The market is easier. Re
ceipts arc tair and stocks are accumula
ting. EGGS We note a surplus, aud a conse
quent weakening in the market.
POULTRY Chickens are plenty and
very quiet. Receipts exceed the demnnd.
Turkeys are coming into demand at quota
APPLES-Plenty and dull.
POTATOES The demand very light
CABBAGE Tho demand is fair for all
receipts, leaving no surplus on the market.
ONIONS rienty and slow sale.

the Revised Ordinances. .
Ho it ordained by the city council of the city of
Section 1. That section 1 of chapter XV of the
revised ordinance be amended so us to hereafter
read aa follows:
Site. 1. No railroad company or conductor, en
gineer or other employe of any railroad company,
or other person maiia'ini; or controlling any loco
motive, engine, car or train upon any railroad
track, shall, within the corporate limits of the city
of Cairo, run or cause or sutler or permit to run
any such locomotive, enirlne, car or train under
his or their charge or control upon anv such rail
road track at a speed exceeding the I'oIIowIul': Pas
senger trains at a speed not to exceed ten miles an
hour; all other train., cars, engines or locomo
tives at a speed not exceeding six miles an hour.
