The weather continues hot, close, dry and
sultry. A light shower of rain a mero
dash of water, this afternoon, laid the dust
for a few hours, but it would take a day of
soaking rain to moisten the ground to any
depth in its present dry state.
The market is unchanged as y;t with
very little activity displayed outside ol corn
and oats. Hay is quiet and easy. None of
the new crop has been put upon the market

new hay will bo placed iu Cairo about the

FLOUK-Btocks are generally light.

it with the Oil, and then place the end of
tho spoon in one uostnl and draw the Oil
out of the spoon into tho head by sniffing
as hard as they can until the Oil lalls over
into tho throat, and practice that twice a
week, I don't care how offensive thoir head

done wonders to my certain knowlcilgo. It

There aro many amazing supersti
tious still prevalent among tho hon ing
fishermen of England ant Scotland.
For years tbn Manx fishers dared mt
put to sea without a dead wren to ward
off storms and disaster. This was due
to the tradition of a Jes spirit which
hunted the herrings, aud was attended
by storms; at longth it took the form of
a wren and flew away. Consequently
a dead wren was thought to krop things
straight. As lately as 18"j1, the herring
fishery being very bad at Banff, Soot
land, some fishermen dressed a cooper
in a flannel shirt "with bars stuck all
over it," and carried him in procession
through the town in a hand-barrow.
This was done to bring better luck.
