AN APOLOGY AND THE CAUSE
The Silver Belt owes nn apology to
its reaUers-and the public for tho non
issiio of the Tuesday morning edition,
which was duo to the shutdown of the
riant of tho Gas & Electric company.
It was hoped that there would be both
liasand electricity last night, but there
was none of the former in tho com
pany's mains, and the Silver Belt this
morning is of hand composition. There
is nono to blame for the shutdown ex
cept the Gas & Electric company,
which allowed its fuel supply to exhaust
itself, with almost, the entire city de
pendent on them for light and electric
power, and apparently making no ef
fort to secure fuel until at a time when
it was too late to secure any. Some of
the inconvenience caused by the shut
down entailed considerable loss to the
city, and in eome cases was not a loss
which could be computed in dollars and

nouncement of whose engagement to
Henry V, Snell is creating a great deal

Miss Van Wagenen entertained at
luncheon Saturday. Covers were 'laid
for twelve, the gue3ts including mem
bers of the Swastika club, of which
Miss Carroll is one of the most popular
weanSers Thp.tnlile decorations were
red carnations and ferns, places being-
marked by water color sketches, rep
resenting brides. A large wedding
bell was suspended in the archway and
a pleasant featuro of the afternoon was
the surprise it contained, for as the
guest of honor passed beneath she was
showered with dainty handkerchiefs.
The guests included Miss Carroll and
Mmes. Hegardt, Hurd, Stoneman, Ken
nedy, Williamson, Fisk, Cushman, Kell
ner, Maisch and Van Vagenen.
Knights of Pythias Installation.
The annual installation of officers will
take place at-ihe nsxt regular meeting

Knights of Pythias, Thursday, January
3, 1907. There will be a supper after
the installation. All Knights are ur
gently requested to be present, and
