r (By II. II. Bru Co.)
QLOB'H, April 5. Today's market
shows great strength and all stocks as
a whole closed much higher than for
some time in the past. The market is
predicted to reach the figure bofore the
crash aud from the outlook now this
may bo true. The money markot both
here and abroad is roported again nor
mal and all industries in full operation.
Anaconda paid its quarterly dividend
of $1.75 per share ,which equals 12 per
cent on its present mnrkot price. Old
Dominion was the feature of the day.
It opened at $53 and closed at $50 asked
and may soil much higher tomorrow.
Anaconda and Old Dominion are
among the best buys as investment
stocks. Arizona Commercial closed at
$20 and I look for this stock to be .soil
ing around $36 within a short time.

- The Wife's Right of Search

state, but was a native Georgian, and
all the cyclones of the breezy west had
not blown out of him his inherited ideas
of chivalry to women.
As a reason for his famous decision
ho gave that when a man mnrried a
woman ho thereby conferred upon her
a right to search his pockctB in quest of
change. There are somo strong argu
ments to sustnin this view. In many
marriages the man snys: "With all
my worldly goods 1 thee endow," and
if this does not justify his wife in
taking what is hers, what would?
Again, man and wife are one, and
what one owns one has a right to for
age on. Under the patriarchal institu
tions of- slavery Sambo argued thus:
"1 belong to marster, and this pig bo
longs to marster, therefore 1 have a
right to take the pig." With great
respect, this illustration may be anal
ogy reply.
Still further, there is the famous pre
cedent of Gretchen and her father con
fessor, Hubert, Was it wrong for
Gretchen to eliminate a small coin out
of the trousers pocket of her sleeping
Hansi It appearing that Hans made
$2 a day and Gretchen had taken 50
cents, the good man's unhesitating
opinion was that the taking was en
tirely lawful and proper. If the senior
member of the firm got 75 per cent of
the daily assets, why wasn't the junior
entitled to 25!
A "swipe," therefore to use n very
inelegant term in consideration pf its
great expressiveness of one-fourth may
bo regarded as about right.
Out of every dollar a quarter, out of
every 50 cents a dime, and if thcro is
only a dime, let her take half. She
will invest the nickel in something use
fill, as, say, a paper of pins, with which
she will bestrew the face of the earth
for a mouth; while he will gulp it up in
a minute in a glass of beer he were bet
ter without. August Chronicle.
"After all," remarked Mrs. Inswim,
"home is the dearest spot on earth."
"It is," asked her husband, who was
engaged in auditing the month's bilN.

A $10 Bill in a Mail Box
An Indianapolis lotter carrier recent
ly found a crisp $10 bill in one of the
mail boxes on his route. There was no
scrap of writing or anything to indi
cate why it had been deposited there.
The carrier turned the bill over to Post
master Bennett, who wrote to the de
partment at Washington to ascertain
what disposition should "bo inndo of it.
Tho first assistant to tho postmaster
general answered that thoro was no
rule to cover such a singular case, and
that tho finder would have to bo gov
erned by tho same laws that govern
tho return of articles or things of valuo
found anywhere else. This moans that
tho letter carrier will keep tho money
unless a claimant appears and identifies
tho bill. ,
