an hour or moro at tho foot of tho
mountains. A nico warm supper was

broken for the last time.

ers reached Globe, tired and sleopy, but
enthusiastic over tho day's achieve

United States Inspector Charles Cook
of tho imimgrntion service has brought
to Tucson from Nogales five Mexicans
who are being detained as witnesses in
tho coming case against the Duquesno
Mining company, charged with viola
tion of the alien immigration law, says
the Tucson Star.
Tho Duquesne company operates at
Washington camp, nbout nine miles this
sidp of (liq international boundary line,
and several weeks ago a complaint was
filed that they were violating tho act
of congress regarding tho importation
of alien laborers.
It was statod in the complaint that
tho defendant company had brought
twonty-nine Mexicans across tho lino
tp work at Washington camp, without
causing them to bo brought through a
port of entry and examined, as the law
provides. 4
The law says that any person or cor
porations violating this act shall be
niado to pay a fino of $1,000 for each(
lauorcr importoi contrary to this con-i
gressional act. j
Tho Duquesno company is accused of
importing twenty-nino of theso alien j
laborers, consequently if it is convicted
the corporation will bo forced to pay'
a fine of $29,000. ;
The case is expected to como un in

brought over will be detained as wit,
ncsscs in the matter.
