P. Tyler is curator. Tyler, it is seems, is an authority on superstitions, and has recently received an American buckeye charm against rheumatism. g He needs a rabbit's foot to complete the collection, and Mr. Smith is asked to supply one that has actually been worn by a believer in the charm. Prisoners' Food Allowance Decreased. The police jury of Calousien parish finished their work Saturday afternoon Iaftle r having been in session two weeks. It was resolved to allow Sheriff Lyons only thirty-five cents a head a day for feeding the prisoners in the pariseh jail. Heretofore the allowance has been fifty cents. they have had two meals a day, and they were good, ,holesome meals. North and South Raillroad Wanted. IDr. Brown, of Camden, Ark., and Capt. Henderson, of Arkadelphia, rep I resenting the Arkansas Southern Rail I road, met the citizens of Ruston, Sat arday, in a very enthusiastic meeting I at the opera house. The &rkansas 5 Southern Railroad, now terminating at i Jnnction City, Ark, propo-e to ex Slend its route from that place to the SGulf. These gentlemen are making a canvass through North Louisiana to Sdetermine the best route for the road. The opera house was crowded and the peo ple were enthusiastic. Speeches were made by both of the visiting gentlemen, who seemed to look with marked favor on Ruston over other North Louisiana At towns. Among the other gentlemen who made vigorous speeches arguing the necessity of a North and South railroad to the upbuilding of the coun try were Judge E. M. Graham, who presided; Mayor C. K.
