A lnmhber of young men from St. Joseph made a trip to Port Gibson last Sunday in Mr. Ful tnm's 7-horse power napthia launch "Annie Bell." The trip up to Port Gibson, some twenty-seven miles or more, was made in four hours, and the re turn trip-down stream-in three hours. The boys spent a delightful day in Port Gibson, some nttended church anod all paid a visit to the Tensas crowd at C.-H. A. and wore pleased to hear such favor able reports of our boys over there, who are all acquitting themselves eiost creditably and rellectinp honor upon old Tronsns. W'e also had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Jessie Bonney, matron at C.-H. A., and heard many very kind aird courteous remarks made ol her by both faculty and students. Mrs. Bonney is eminently fitted for the position she occupies as is evidenced by the universal sat isfaction her administration has given. Port Gibson is a very pretty city, happily located, and possess es some natural advantages, with many acquired. Stately build. ings and handsome residences adorn the city and lend att ractive ness that betokens p)rosperity and progress. Broad avenues, lined on either side with beautiful shade trees, traverse the city in every direction, and altogether it is a very picturesque Southern town. The population is composed of a citizenship above the ordinary in ictnlligoce and enterprise, as is evidelneed by the rapid progress the city is making toward becom ing a successful rival of some of the great commercial centers of Ali iissippi. The lid is on good and tight at Port Gibson, even soft drinks being hard to get on Sunday. The Commercial Hotel, where the boys dined, is modern throughout and is presided ovgr by a former Ten. sas lady. The service is excellent and the table bounttifully stup. plied with the best oltainable The delegatimt also, visited th, Claiborie county Court House Shiclt is a very Ihandmeino and impl),,sing structure, me der n I Pqui)ppd throughout atd excel. letly arranged, but perhapt few public Iuildings any whert are ke1.t like the Tensas Court House at St. Joseph, whielt is cer taiuly a model of neatness and which adds very greatly to itt comfort and attractiveness. in fact when it comes to the Couri House proposition, we have par ishes and counties of far greates pretentiots utterly "skinnued.' Andrew Flessner, asking for damages for loss of mules while leased to Flessner, during the year 1908, was decided by Judge Boat tier last Thursday. The Court ren dered judgment in favor of the plaintiff in the sum of $451.25, and on reconventional demand of defendant judgment was awarded in the sum of $115.00. The mandamus suit instituted by Mr. Harrison Stewart to com pel Mr. E. F. Newell, Registrar of Voters, to register him in accord ance with the new registration law, was heard by Judge Boatuer Thursday. A number of witnesses were examined and the trial eon sumed almost the entire day. The plaintiff was represenlted by Mr. Reeves and Mr. Clinton and the defendant by Mr. Young and Mr. Green. The refusal by Mr. New ell to permit Mr. Stewart to rig ister was based on the grounds that applicant is not a citizen of this State and parish, haviing moved some time since to \'icks burg, Miss. The plaintitf d(lied the alleged grounds of defendlant 's answer, assert ing that his remo\val to Vicksburg was purely tempilor ary and for sake of business con venience. Thq Court did not lp;os on the question, at this time, annd a future day will be allowed all parties concerned to argue the case, and at whicl, time the Court will render a decision.
