We take pleasure in publishing the following letter from Mr. Omar C. Ritchie, of Concordia narish, and endorse all the gentleman says. What this country is imperatively in need of is a thrifty and intelli gent class of immigration, sech as Mr. Ritchie describes, and until we can induce these people to locate in this country, and rid onurelves of the one-crop idea, we will ontinne to have waste and unprofitable lands, yielding nothing. And en'passant we might add that what we also need is a few more en terprising, progressing citizens like Mr. Ritchie to boost our many nat ural advantages and advertise our country in the remote sections where our great natural resources are still unknown and whose people" should be told of the inducements we offer, and they would surely regard our country as the "Land of Promise." Following is Mr. Ritch;e's letter: L'Argent, La., March 18th, 1915. Editor Teneas Gazette, St. Joseph, La. Dear Sir:-The copy of your paper re ceived and I note with pleasure your ap proval and endorsement of my sugges tions to the Timee-Picayune, relative to nominations for our neat Governor. This matter is of vital importance to the citi zens of this State. The people of the North and Central West are becoming interested in this section and we need them to help us develop ear natural re soulrces, with their money, muscle and brains, and we need a man like Mr. F. I. (;utlhrie, who is interested and has krw 'dgze of Louisiana affair' to assist tan, dirtc'.t our people in law-n ak'iz and iaw ohbervauce, to make it phleaant and irotitable for these new citizens, when they come, as. they will, soon, and in great rn':nh rs. The pmt winter has bae so bitterly cold, and so lone continued in the North. that many of their best and wealthier citizens are looking longingly to the com forts of our sunny clime. Se we must put our most capable'men to the front, as our representatives, in official Ffe, so as to impress ear vis itors with our c;tizenship, as well as fer tile soil and fair climate.
