The seventieth annual session of the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist-Episcopal church was convened at Mansfield, n Wlled needay and remained in session un til Sunday night, when appoint ments for the ensuing year were an nounced. It was with intense feel ing of gratification that news was received here of the re-appointment of the Rev. Geo. Fox to this charge and our people are to be congratu lated on having him with us for an other year. Following are the new appointees 4pr the Monroe District: A. S. Gibbs. The following ministers with their new appointments have in time served on the Waterproof circuit and are affectionately remembered by our people: Mer Rouge and Oak Grove, W. R. Swallow, formerly of Macon, Miss., has located in Tensas parish. and moved his herd of pure bred Herford cattle to "Sunnyside". Mr. Swallow and the Hon. E. R. E. Kilbrough, who have pur dbsed this property, intend to make it a first class breeding place of the "white faces". Mr. Swallow's cattle are all Anx ley bred, and in type and confirm ation are very true to the blood( )iae of this celebrated sire. The1 herd bll, Beau Donovan, 417,234,,. Mr. Swallow is very sanguine over the future of Tensas as a cattle country and the firm intends to make these cattle a very consid erable part of 2,eir farming pro gramme. I Mr. S. K.
