Miss lane Coombs appeared last night as "Lady Dedlock," and "Hor tense" in Charles Dickens' Weak House to a large audience, and gave as Lady Dedlock one of the most fin ished, artistic and beautiful perfor mances of female character that has ever been seen upon our stage. In the passionate scene in the third act she teached the most intense expres sion of acting and received an en thusiastic recall alter the fourth act. When she disclosed her identity to her child the audience was moved to tears for the repentant mother. Miss Coombs' regal beauty, magnificent voice, and exquisite grace captured every heart in the large audience. As Hortcnse, the revengeful lady's maid, Miss Coombs achieved a distinct suc cess, playing it with all the abandon of a French woman, who, when goad ed to desperation by Tulkinghorn, deliberately plan and accomplishes his murder. The supporting compa ny was very fine and gave such rep resentations as will not be forgotten. The interest in the piece was sustain ed to the close, and it is surprising that so much of the story could be so well told. Cincinnati Commercial. At The Garland to-night. A Now Photographer. Mr. J.
