Robinson and Shaw volunteered to fill their places, and did their part towards winning the game. The Abbovilles again succeeded in making a tripple play much to the disgust of their op ponents. Beauxis returned from New Orleans a few days ago, whither he had gone to put his son at school. Mr. Philibert Crouchet, one of Lafayette's noble yoing gentlemen, wag visiting relatives and friends in Abbeville this week. Among the legal profession attend ing district- court this week from abroad were Laurent Dupic, Esq , of Opelousas; ex district attorney Joseph S. Chargols and 0. C. Mou ton, Esq., of Lafayette. Our confrere of the Now Iberia Enterprrse, J. B. Lawton, Esq., paid a visit to different parts of our par ish this week for recreation and pleasure. He was looking well, and speaks encouragingly of the business outlook in his city this fall. Mr. W. A. Cooper, an attach4 of the Times-Dlmocrat, was on a visit to Abbeville this week. We were pleased to meet him. He is the verit able picture of health and good nature, a pleasant and polished gen tlemnan, always bearing a happy and pleasing qumile on his countenance. We are pleased to note the return of our esteemed friend, Rev. Robert Harry, from a busine-s trip to Ten nessee: He reports had crops all along the line of travel, and after the absence of one month, states that he is glad to get back to the old State. He will hold services at Prairie Grcig on Sunday next, morning and evening, and at night, at 7:30 o'clock, will hold services at Abbeville. The public are earnestly invited to attend. Mr. John Jast aski, superintend. eat of the Deaf and Dumb Asylum at Baton Rouge, visited Abbeville this week in the interest of that institution. Mr. Jastremski formerly resided at this place, but left here twenty-eight years ago, this being his first visit to Abbeville since then. His many friends here were happy to meet him and talk over things of by-gone days. His visit was an agreeable surprise, and was as highly appreciated by his newly made ac quaintances as by his old-time friends. He carries with him the good wishes of this community, and it is to be hoped that in the future his visits to fthis place will be more frequent and of longer duration, as we truly enjoyed his company.
