A mammoth cottonwood tree was cnt a few days ago in the h ttioms of the Little Wabash river. in Illnois. It contained 8,000 feet of lumber. Ti.. tree was 21 feet in circumfer ence and a 12-foot log on the first limb cut 600 feet of merchantable lumber. When the tree was felled the tallest man In the neighborhood could not see over the logs as they lay on the ground. Clerk's Wise Suggestion.
