ORDINANCE. - AN ORDINANCE preventing the roam ing at large of live stock within the limits of 5th ward of Vermil ion Parish. Be it ordained by the Police Jury of Vermilion parish in regular session *convetned, That all owners "f live stock, such as horses, cattle sheep, `mules, goats, Hogs, or any other hivc stock are hereby forbidden to alY w them to roam at large within I he limits of that (ctL) fifth ward of Vermilion parish La.; Adl at L .t the owt. ers of aforesaid stock found roamsining at large shall be responsiole for all damages done by the said stock, (or animals) to crops or fields of other'persons, and it shall be law ful for the owners of any crops or fields datmaged by said animals to pen them, and take proper care of them and shall immediately advertise said aniir.als in at least three places in the neighborhood for ten. days describing such anmnals and adver tising them for sale to the highest, bidder,'by said taker up or some person he may select, on a day, 'bo, r and at d place specified in said notice, for the payment of all the d:nages done by said animals andthe expense of keeping same, which damages 'shall be assessed tiy two disinterested parties: one to be chosen by tite taker up of the animals, and the cther by the owner if he can be found and it not found, or refusing them, by tfe taker up said animals may he sold to the highest bidder after ten days notice as aforesaid, and 'te dtimagei '.nd exiense to be paid ou.t of the 'proceeds of sale and the suiplus, if 'any be'aid into the pAtrish treasury; Provided that the owners of said api mals diaiv at any time befoCre said sale, on paving the assessessd damages, -spd expense take said animaiIl, other wise thiy shall be sold as nTove pro ,lded by such taker up or a':::i per son 5s he may select.
