Thursday morning he arose early, as
was his usual cutomto friendslie sang as he
druffssed andslight aeating a hearty fail
reakfast went toly his office with hicovered,
nephew, Charles W. Mackie. Jr.. whose
place of business adjoins the of sporris
Thursdompany. The two arrived at the
door of the usualorris Company.
The nephew was just about to enter
his office when a clerk of the Morris
Company ran up and told him that
Mr. Mackle had fainted. Young Mr.
Mackle rushed into his uncle's office
to find him dead.
"He walked into the office looking a
little pale." said an employe Thurs
day. "lie said nothing to us, and
three salesmen followed him into his
private office to consult with him. IHe
walked across the room and then fell
in a heap. They rushed over to him,
but he was dead."
Thomas G. Mackle entered into the
employ of the big woodenware com
pany when a boy of 14 lie was born
In Algiers fifty-nine years ago, the son
of the late Thomas G. Mackie.
ills life has been spent with the Mor
ris Company and his rise to the head
of the company is attributed to a keen
business intellect and a thorough
knowledge of his business.
He has been president of the firm
for the past five years, and was lend
ing every energy to the upbuilding of
the concern when death claimed him.
lHe was married thirty-five years ago
to Miss Carrie Heap, who survives
him. with three children-two daugh
ters. Misses Carrie and Beulah, and a
on. Charles Edward Mackie.
He is survived by three brothers.
Albert Mackle. president of the Albert
Mackle Grocery Company; Charles W.
Mackle, vice-president of the same
company, and Walter Mackle, sales
man for the .Mackie Company.
The funeral was held from his resi
dence. 1527 Calhoun street. Friday af
ternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial was in
Metairle cemetery.

TAINS AT TEA.
Miss Mary Buck of Chicago, the
house guest of her cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. John L Follette, was the guest
of honor on Wednesday afternoon at
an Informal tea given by Mrs. George
Koppel at her home in Algiers. The
rooms were decorated with palms.,
ferns and quantities of golden colored
'hrysanthemums. which were held in
tall vases on mantels and cabinet..
Mrs. Koppel was assisted in receiving
by Miss Buck, Mrs. J. Crelghton Ma
thewes and Mrs. Rellly of Charlotte,
N. C. In the dining room. where the
dainty refreshments were served, Miss
Ophella Koppel presided. The table
was lovely with pink roses and lights
shaded in rose color. Mrs. Albert
Moore and Mrs. William 8. Slack, seat
ed at the board, poured tea and dhoco
late from silver services. Miss Allela
Stead dispensed the punch while the
Misses Rita Porch, Imogen Norris, Lu.
cia Wands and Cecil Wands served the
refreshments. A large number of
guests called during the hours of re
celving.
