pose, and the big coaling plant was
given its first genuine test. It is
stated. however, that after the sta
tion is in operation, it will require
the addition of a greater power
house.
Mr. Alonzo Burke, the chief car
penter who has been in charge of
the Naval Station for the past year,
has indeed been a very lively officer
at the station, lie has done much
to bring about the improved condi
tions ot which we are looking for
ward, and it is the hope of his many
friends that he will be retained here
after the station is turned over to
a commandant, which, no doubt, ite
will be when it is in operation.
